What can a Registered Dietitian do for you?

What Is A Registered Dietitian (RD or RDN)?

Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, but only an RD or RDN has completed multiple layers of education. To ensure that you are getting the most accurate and up to date nutrition information, it's important to look for the following in your nutrition counselor:

  • Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition at an accredited university or college by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition & Dietetics (ACEND).

  • Completed an ACEND-accredited supervised dietetic internship program which involves a minimum of 1200 hours of supervised practice.

  • Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

  • Obtained a license to practice from a state regulatory board (licensed dietitian, LD)

  • Completed continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.

What Can A Dietitian Do For Me?

A dietitian is your personal nutrition coach! They advise on food and nutrition to promote health and manage disease. They can help you achieve your specific nutrition related goals (weight loss, diabetes management, sports nutrition, or food allergy management, to name a few) in a way that works for you. Dietitians may provide:

  • Nutrition Education which is science-based and current

  • Motivational Counseling/Accountability which utilizes an individualized approach and solutions

  • Menu Planning with recipes and grocery lists which gives individualized food ideas

Why Balanced Eats?

I started Balanced Eats to provide a comprehensive, individualized service to assist clients achieve and maintain their health-related goals.

If you go to search a dietitian/nutritionist website to look at their services, you are likely to find a huge list of packages and add on service they provide: "6-month Weight Loss Package", "3-month Weight Loss Package", "Sports Diet Package", "Nutrition Tune-up", "Grocery List Planning", etc. It's hard to wrap your head around all of the packages and what services you may need. And if something you need isn't in your original package, you will have to add it on for an extra fee. These costs can add up!

I knew I wanted to simplify this and continue to provide the highest quality of care (see our approach here). I believe the only way to truly effect change is to offer comprehensive dietitian services to my clients at one low monthly cost. Your needs from your dietitian may change week-to-week or month-to-month, you shouldn't need to buy additional packages or be locked-in to a package you don't need any more.

Our Balanced Eats package is an all-inclusive approach to assure clients feel empowered and leave with long lasting results. Check out our Packages on our website for more information!
